§         dance/movement therapy and counseling theory
§         human growth and development
§         the helping relationship, group dynamics and processes
§         life-style and career development
§         appraisal of individuals
§         research and evaluation
§         professional orientation

**Continuing Education Hours are to be accrued in more than one category. The above list does not include all the possibilities for continuing education for dance/movement therapists. Credentialed therapists should seek opportunities to continue education in areas that most benefit practice and clients.

EXAMPLES! If you attend a workshop or seminar related to any aspect of clinical work you can count the clock hours you attend as Continuing Education Hours – make sure you receive an attendance certificate; If you publish an article about DMT in a magazine or journal it is worth 50 hours; If you provide supervision you can count up to 20 hours – make sure to document it with the supervisee. If you participate on any ADTA or ADTA Chapter Committee, ask the Chairperson to document the hours of your participation up to 50 hours; Read a professional book or research article and document it by writing a 500 word summary – this is worth 4 hours; If you take a dance class have the instructor document your attendance – worth up to 10 hours. You are probably already doing many of these things – so document them!! They are Continuing Education!
