Several committees are busily planning special events for this conference and throughout the coming year to mark and honor the American Dance Therapy Association’s (ADTA) 50th anniversary. You will not want to miss this conference and these special events!
Special Conference Events – La Jolla, California,
October 22-25, 2015
Thursday, October 22nd
ADTA Talks 2015: ADTA Talks 2015 will be filmed just around the corner from the conference hotel on Thursday, October 22 from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm and we would love to have conference attendees in the audience. ADTA Talks 2015 is bigger than ever, with over 30 speakers sharing information and anecdotes on dance/movement therapy practice. Topics will include: social justice, integrative medicine, conflict resolution, anxiety, depression, substance abuse and PTSD – just to name a few. Details about the speaker schedule and how to be in the audience will be shared soon–mark your calendars!
ADTA Day of Service: As has become our annual conference tradition, the ADTA is arranging for members to provide a “taste of dance/movement therapy” to local agencies. The Day of Service will take place on Thursday afternoon from approximately 12:30 pm to 4 pm. We are in need of dance/movement therapist volunteers who would like to join a team of other dance/movement therapists to facilitate a group, as well as a staff in-service at a local agency as an introduction to dance/movement therapy. Past volunteers have found this a fun and rewarding way to connect with local communities and share our expertise. We are still working out the final logistics and details but if you are interested, please email Erin Howe at email@example.com to volunteer or for more information.
Sunday, October 25th
ADTA Vision 2021 Session: Every five years the ADTA Board of Directors participates in a strategic visioning session to set the course of our work for the next five years. This year we would like input from our membership to help us set priorities for the Board’s strategic planning session, which will take place in April 2016. Please join us on Sunday morning from 9:00 – 10:00 am for a special session as, together, we explore our hopes and goals for the ADTA, moving into our next half century.
Closing Session: Join us for a special movement session on Sunday morning from 10:30 am – 12:00 noon as we welcome new R-DMTs and BC-DMTs, wrap-up our 2015 conference experience and set the stage for our ongoing 50th year celebration.
