Encouraging Scholarship

In order to develop a body of literature to support the knowledge base of the profession, the Foundation has published several books basic to theory and practice and of aid to further research. Additionally, grants have been awarded to enable others to publish or create videos that further the educational goals of the Foundation.

To encourage scholarship, an annual award has been instituted by the Foundation for an article rewritten from a graduate thesis or paper according to the guidelines of the American Journal of Dance Therapy (AJDT) and selected by the editors for publication. These are to be based on theses, dissertations or papers completed within the past five years and may include updated material. Papers should have no more than two authors. Submissions chosen for publication by the American Journal of Dance Therapy will carry a $100 honorarium. Authors should state they are applying for the award when submitting article to the AJDT.
